At just over 47,000 miles the regulator on this 30000 dollar truck goes bad. My Durango, which has close to 130,000 miles has never had a problem with the windows.

While driving to work one morning, I heard a loud thud!! In shock, thinking something may have crashed through my window, I immediately pulled off to the side of the road during very busy a.m traffic. I could not find any trace of broken glass. I then looked inside the door and saw that the glass had just fallen in????? I could press the button and hear the motor, but absolutely no movement from the glass. While searching the web on how I may be able to fix the problem, I was amazed at how many other people had actually had this same problem. I called Ford Motor Company and complained about this very embarrassing ordeal. I could no longer use my truck. They seemed to blow me off, only saying I may bring my truck in and be charged a service fee. They (Ford) said that they would have to evaluate whether they would be responsible for this mishap. After speaking to everyone's boss at Ford Motor Company, I then realized I would not be cheated again and pay a service fee for something Ford is refusing to take responsibility for. Two weeks later, with a 2x4 holding the window up on the passenger side of a 35,000.00 dollar automobile, me and my family were on interstate 10. My wife pregnant for our first baby girl and my three and five year olds in the back, doing seventy (which is the speed limit) faced a potentially life threatening experience. Unbelievably, my drivers side window comes crashing down and explodes in the door!!!! With the wind rushing unexpectedly in, and the loud crash of the glass breaking in the door, I temporarily lost control of my vehicle. Knowing I had my families life at stake, I immediately gained control and brought my truck to a screeching halt in the emergency lane. From that moment, I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, called Ford and made complaints and found this site to share my frustration like the rest of you. Why must it take someone seriously getting hurt or killed before Ford takes responsibility for its mistakes. I refuse to pay for this defective situation. To all who read this, I ask that help yourself and others by speaking up. Call Ford motor Company. File a complaint with you local Better Business Bureau. This is the only way to solve this problem. If enough people stand up, they will have no choice but to take responsibility.

Driver window stuck in down position in rain storm. What a BLAST!!! After I got home I pulled the switch, tore it down, and swapped the burned & melted components with the ones for the rear driver window in the same switch unit. Be careful this junk is plastic. Did I mention the switch I traded components with still works? FREAKY FORD!!!

Mother-in law borrow my wife's F150 and was pulling into a parking space and heard a big bang sound, which she thought was a gunshot. Then once she turned around found that the Passenger side window had fallen down. She took it to a Ford Dealer and they charged over $400 even though the vehicle had less than 35,000 miles, they said the warranty expired in February. I have found this same complaint on the internet many times and wonder why Ford hasn't done anything about it. I have been a Ford faithful for over 20 years, but we are now looking at replacing this Ford with another manufacturer.

Driver side window has fallen down into door. Warranty has run out on vehicle so I attempted to look into problem myself. After removing door panel and inspecting power window system I have discovered that the problem is simply poor design. I have worked on many power doors for older vehicles and I have never seen a cable pully system held together with plastic parts. The window is to heavy for strain on the system, the plastic part that holds the window in the up position can not hold and as gives out causing the window to fall. This is going to be an on going problem with the only fix coming from Ford, all the plastic parts need to be replaced with metal ones. I like the truck itself however, this problem is unsat. and I would not recommended anybody purchasing a 2004-2006 Ford truck since they all use the same system (I have not looked into a 2007 and newer to see if they might have fixed the problem). I will be returning to purchasing Chevy trucks from here on out.

Drivers side window switch stopped controlling the drivers side window going up. Got a new switch off of ebay for 35.00 Then the passengers side rear window switch stopped working all to gather. Ebay again 25.00. Then the rubber on the passenger side window moved in such a way it was gripping the window too hard not letting it roll up. 75.00 at a local audio shop. They removed the rubber, reinstalled it with rubber cement to hold it in place.
