Can you believe it? This is the 3rd window to go out in less than a year. Ford claims there is no recall and won't fix the 4th one which I'm sure will go out too. This is ridiculous!

The window wasn't even being used and it fell into the door leaving the cab open to the elements. Of course, Ford fixed it but charged me $100. This was the first of all 4 windows to go out within 18 months.

Add me to the list of pissed off Ford owners! My window fell in my door and now ford wants $450 to fix it. This has been a major problem with Ford trucks. This is the 2nd time it has happened to the same window in the last 12 months and ford will not fix it for free....said it was not covered! I have owned Fords all my life and think it will be the last time I own one.

A few weeks back I was going to work and as I approached the Gated access to work and went to roll down my window I accidentally rolled down my rear drivers side window, as I went to roll up this window it made an awful grinding noise and would not roll up again, angry that my warranty has expired and I only had about 37,500 miles on the truck and had only probably rolled down that window 20 times since I bought the vehicle I just figured that it was a fluke and that's how the cookie crumbles, I took the door panel apart and tie wrapped the window in the up position..........now here is the part that made me really mad........I was in my home painting, my truck alarm started going off and I went outside, this is only a week or two after the rear window failure, I approached my truck and saw that my driver side window was down, I expected to find shattered glass from someone trying to break in but nope, the window just collapsed inside the door and set off the alarm, tried to roll it up again and the exact same cable grinding noise as the rear driver side window was making! I could not believe that a truck with less than 38000 miles now has 50% of the windows not working, I had to tie wrap up that window as well until I can figure out what do, I went to ford and the service writer immediately knew what the problem was and quoted me a price nearing $900 to $1000 to fix both windows!!!!!!!!!!! FORD should step up and pay for these window malfunctions, this is just plain ridiculous, I am scared to roll down the other windows in the truck now! and a truck with as little miles and as little wear on those windows should not be failing this early, I fully understand normal wear and tear but this is ridiculous, I am very angry and will be calling ford and anyone else who will listen to get ford to pay for this, I should not have to shell out $1000 for window repairs on a truck that is barely broken in!

Ford Truck, built Ford Tough...hmmm...driving down a road, 25 miles and hour, loud bang, thought someone fired a gun, or hit my door...all of a sudden, window drops quietly and slowly down into the door.

I have had the truck parked in my driveway with plastic sheeting over the window to keep out the rain till I figure out how to take the door apart and fix this. Yesterday, my friend said, just get a pair of pliers and cover them with duct tape (that's a man thing) and use that to pull the window up far enough to get a grip, then use your hands to pull it up the rest of the way. It worked. Window is up...scared to put the key in and see if it will move up and down again, I am pretty sure the window regulator needs to be replace with the loud bang.

So, waiting for a sunny day to remove the door panel, I priced the part, $37. Can't be that difficult to fix.

What a crappy design! It just "broke" all on its own. The part cost me $159.00 and if I had the dealer do the work, it would have been a total of $450! Luckily I took my bother's advice and did it myself. It wasn't very hard, just time consuming. If you are looking for to buy the window regulator online, check out http://thinkpartsguy.com

This is the third window that has fallen into the door and will not roll up. Previous repairs have been around $150-250. Cheap parts. Not built to last. I emailed Ford with my lengthy complaint and I received a general reply from them thanking me for my interest in their vehicles. Most people who buy Ford trucks are hard working people with families that deserve a dependable vehicle. It would be nice if our own American made trucks would be worth purchasing. On each of the three occurrences that the window fell down, we had our babies in the vehicle. One time it was raining, one time it was almost 100 degrees out, and just yesterday it happened again. GRRRR.

I bought a mustang and my wife picked up a 2004 F-150 the same day from the same dealer. the very next day, I rolled the driver's side window down in the F-150 and it would not roll back up. The dealer did us right on that one probably because they just made a small fortune on us, but they fixed it at no charge. 6 weeks later both the front and the back on the passenger side went out in the same freaking day. The back window was down when we came home and when we got in the truck and tried to use the switches...the front went down. Took it to the dealer and since it was 2 windows they gave us a deal. We paid and everything is fine RIGHT. Hell no. About 2 months later my wife is driving alone and the driver's side rear falls about half way down. Why only half I don't know, because the others fell all the way. We are batting a 1.000 now all 4 have crapped out. I don't want the dealer to fix it because they are just going to put the same crappy OEM part back in it. We need Ford to make it right.

Driving down 5 from Sacramento back home week before my brother came out to visit and out of nowhere the window drops straight down (I had the a/c on as it was over 100 that day). Didn't think much about it maybe just the motor or something slipped and would be an easy fix. NOT the CASE!!! The next day got with my mechanic and tore apart the door and to our surprise found a RATS NEST cable TWISTED and GNARLED around a POS plastic pulley that was TRASHED. NICE, so here I am 4 months later door panel still off and window is being held up by a stick and the passenger has to be let out of the vehicle everytime. I have looked into getting the part for the repair but haven't decided if I want to just yet. Especially seeing now that I am not the only one out there. FORD needs to be a big boy step up to the plate and put out a recall on this!! What is really terrible about this is that it is a safety factor. I could only imagine my son, daughter, wife, or dog sitting there next to the window and the window shattering blowing glass on them or my dog falling out the window. Would FORD step up and cover something like that? Probabbly not which is why the world is full of attorneys. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM AND GET FIX THIS RIGHT AWAY!!!!!!

Only question I have thought of and maybe the thousand other F-150 owners may or may not have thought of this. Is there an alternative manufacturer such as Chevy, Toyota or other out there that has a similar part that will fit to make it work where the problem doesnt continue to happen???? Just a thought.

Come on FORD stand behind your AMERICANS who continue to buy the FORD TOUGH TRUCKS - or is FORD going to hide and not show face on this???? This is America good ole USA where is our support the AMERICAN customers of FORD???

This is the 3rd window that has failed on the this truck. Walk out to get in it and the window is down and won't come back up. Mechanic last time blamed it on a small plastic piece that fails, but it is made into the whole assemble and forces you to buy the complete regulator package. One more of these and I'll have a $1000 invested repairing windows because of one little faulty plastic clip.

Looks like I can join the group of window failures. I had no idea this was Ford epidemic, and they need to step up. I was driving down the driveway on Thanksgiving day when I noticed the window was down. I tried to put it back up, but no go. The window has hardly been used! Just another on the list, though. I just had to have the sunroof replaced at a cost of over $1000 due to broken slides. Ford stated it was wear due to use, but I have been out of country almost every summer since I bought the truck, and it hardly got used! anyway- let me know if there is a class action, I'm in.....

I'm joining the broken power window regulator club and I'm furious. I drove into work, rolled down my window to swipe my parking pass for the garage and the window would not roll back up. Nice time of year to have to park in a mall parking lot with a broken window. I have also been a die hard Ford Truck fan for more than 20 years. Called the dealership and asked for a quote to fix the regulator. They only had one computer working and the guy said he would call me back in 15 minutes when he could get on the computer. Well 2 hours later I called him back (no apology for not calling me back) and he gave me a quote of $180.00 plus labor. The truck has 42000 miles on it. I wouldn't expect to have to replace this mechanism at this mileage. I attempted to find the part online and fix it myself. I could not find the regulator other than the factory. I saw a beautiful Nissan Titan yesterday in the grocery store parking lot. I talked to the owner for about 20 minutes and he is very happy with it. The Titan looks very attractive to me right now. And I don't have to feel guilty about it because Nissan has factories right here in the USA employing American workers. Well, I just wanted to add to the list just so it is known that this window problem isn't a rare occurrence.

So Im drving home a week and a half ago from being at work for 48 hours and I hear the thud! Oh its the passenger window and it is fallen and cannot be put up. So I call around looking for a better price then about $400 at the dealership and guess what happened today on my way home??? Yes it happened the rear passenger window fell. HA! So know its almost Christmas both windows are broke and guess what we are going to do...BAIL OUT THE AUTO INDUSTRY! Thats what we need to do is bail out the auto industry that sticks it to us all the time. So I called the number that was posted and got a nice lady on the phone who didn't really care about my problems so i wasted my breath and let her know the problems. I have been researching the window regulator to purchase and it appears that you cannot buy just the regulator by itself, you have to get the motor on it to. Which brings the cost to $190...Let us know about the law suit..thanks for listing...

Second time for this problem was yesterday while the wife was driving to work. I listen to weather report "heavy rain" great. Take my day off to pick up her truck then drive 30mi to the dealer with a good service manager. Got to wait for 21/2 hrs then got to drive home in heavy rain and Los Angeles traffic. Cost out of pocket $50 due to extended warranty but does not cover my 5 hours plus fuel and nice drive of 110 mi round trip. Service Manager told me outside vendor made these cheap POS's. Ford needs to step up and fix at no cost.

This past Oct 08 -- I filed a complaint here on this web site about the driver side door window falling down and now the passenger side fell down!!!!!

What in the heck is wrong with this window system?

Come on Ford -- admit when you have a fleet wide problem and own up to it with a recall -- or at least a "re-pay" for the ones that had to pay it out!!!

I completely agree with others WTF!!!! First our driver window went pop/crash and sure as sh*t the passenger front window went down a couple weeks later. We pulled off the door panels and re-routed the cable and thought we fixed the problem. Then when we attempted to roll the window down it did the same thing POP! We took the door panel off again and saw that the cable had shredded the cheap piece of plastic they used for the cable drum.
So now we have been manually sliding our windows up and driving around which works until you hit a pebble in the road and then you have instant air conditioning. It sucks because our 14 month old is in the back seat getting wind blown. So we crank the heat and bundle her up when we go places.
We haven't fixed the windows yet because our local dealer has yet to get back to us and because we don't have the money to do it at the present moment.
I am so disappointed and surprised Ford has not done a recall on this issue. If you google this issue it is huge and every single 2004 Ford F150 will go through this sooner or later.
I am sure we will never purchase another Ford after this experience.

This is the 3rd Window. One more to go! this is really aggravating in 30 degree weather when your window falls down and you can't do a thing. The you call the local dealership and they are RUDE like it is our problem. Even under extended warranty this makes 300.00 spent out of pocket. The last one is making a noise and they won't fix it until it breaks to get another 100.00

Had this happen after a really wonderful day at work (sarcasm). Anyways, we have had our truck for 6 months, we bought it used because of the nice condition it's in and the low mileage. I guess I should have done my research before purchasing the vehicle!!!! This is retarded and the people at the Ford dealership here are even more retarded. The motherf(&%ing girl that answered the phone didn't even know what I was talking about, and said I had to bring it in, from the looks of this complaint forum that should be a bunch of bulls(*$. About 2 months ago I experienced this same issue with my driver side window...it was covered by warranty at the time. Last week it happened to my passenger side window. I wasn't even using the window, I was just driving along when the window fell. I am now 4,000 miles out of warranty and I assume I will be paying for the fix out of pocket. Funny thing, I just got the itch to get a new ride. If Ford does not step up and take of this issue they will not be in the running to receive my next 60 payments.

Well first the passanger window regulator went bad replaced that then the rear passanger door on the right went bad did not fix that one after paying $220.00 for the front window and then just a couple a months ago my window regulator on the driver side went bad, so I decided to get that one fixed so I did that on my self and found out that ford decided to make all the components in the window regulator out of plastic with so much tension the cables have they are bound to go bad there is no way in hell that the plastic clips that hold the cables hold up the window and the torque that the electric motor puts out there should be a recall on these and maybe they should have better engineers developing better equipment!!! I have had this F-150 for 4 years and it I drive it on weekends only. First window regulator went out as I was rolling it up when I was getting ready to go into a store. I took it in so my extended warranty would take care of it and it cost me $200 out of my pocket. Then no more than 2 months later my passenger door did the same thing. I purchased a new one for $100 and did it myself. Now 8 months later my Drivers side rear door went out. I think this is a serious problem with Fords new design and when I asked about it they said they have never had a problem. I can say this. With all the other problems with this truck I have had and Ford saying "O we are not responsible for that or that is not covered under warranty" I will not purchase a another Ford Truck.

While my truck was parked, I noticed the passenger side window was missing. Further investigation showed that the window without cause or aggravating circumstances fell into the door. Ford stated the problem was a failed window regulator; however, instead of Ford accepting responsibility for this, it was fixed at my expense. I notified Customer Relations without success. I even went further to write the Board of Directors of Ford, Investor Relations, and any other groups whose address I could find. The Board of Directors Office contacted me back to state they still would not be able to help me out. Anyone having this problem needs to write Ford's main office, the Board of Directors, Investor Relations and the dealership where you purchased the car in order for them to finally see there is a problem with this model and the window regulators.

I reached for the switch to press for the window to go up/down and it fell quickly down into the door. My husband has taken the door panel off to look to see if it was off track. We then decided to look on the internet & found this site. Apparently, Ford has major problems with the window regulator motors. As we are a "Ford Family", like many others that have complained on this site, Ford needs to recognize there is a problem and issue a recall. I realize this is not a safety issue, but it is indeed very irritating. We have owned a 1994, 1997, 2000, and 2004 Ford F150. These vehicles were all traded before they reached 50,000 miles. I never had any problem with the other truck parts and feel that at 42,000 miles, I shouldn't be having trouble with this one. FORD.....WAKE UP!!!

window regulator problem just like everyone else. I have a supercrew and my 4th window went out a couple of weeks ago. 4 for 4. 100% Actually my rear sliding window also had problem (I don't recall if it was also regulator), so it would be 5 for 5. I told Ford that they should either consider this a defective part, or they should include this as a scheduled maintenance item. Every 30,000 miles, replace window regulator or something. The dealer actually tried to charge me diagnostic charge when I told them I will fix it on my own (the previous three were covered by warranty). They did wave the charge. I mean, I did not need them to tell me for the 4th time that the window regulator went out. I knew exactly what the problem was. I know there is little the dealer can do. Ford really should do something about this.

I was amazed to see that failing windows was such a wide spread problem and that my anger at FORD is not alone. One window I was mad when I learned that a small plastic part could cost me so much. Then when the second window failed I was pissed when I learned that side was more expensive. Before window number two was repaired window number 3 dropped and now the rear window is not working. I have one window left anyone want to guess how long it will last. Does anyone have any idea how many times the same part has to fail before there is some sort of action that can be brought against the manufacturer.
I have found several hundred examples of this same problem on just a few websites. FORD should make some sort of restitution, 'We let you pay for 3 cheap broken windows, we'll fix the 4th for free'. Old saying FORD - Fixed Or Repaired Daily rings true. I checked and no recall from Ford has been issued on my VIN, if anyone know of one or a class action suit, please post it on this site.

I can't believe all this problem is because of a broken plastic clip on the regulator. I can't even try and repair the clip because the cable got bent when it broke and is no longer usable. I didn't realize it was such a major problem with the F-150 until I came to this site.

Well, I was driving down the freeway and I began hearing loud road noise. When I looked back I realized that my passenger rear window was beginning to fall down. I quickly remembered hearing what I thought was a rock hitting my window the day before. Obviously it was that stupid cable popping yet again. Why in the hell has Ford not recalled the power window mechanism? I now live in a different city and I am curious to see what this dealership says about this issue. It is obviously a huge problem, not to mention a major inconvenience!

So this was the second time that this had happened to us. Coming home from church, my wife and I thought we heard a large rock hit her passenger window. Sure as hell it was the stupid window. She actually grabbed the window to keep it from falling all the way down. Since we had experienced this before we knew what would happen. I used Duck Tape to keep the window up over night until I could take it in the next morning. Again, Ford had not heard of this being an issue. Weird since it was my second f-ing window to fall down. The first time was a pain, this time really sucked and wouldn't you know, it has happened AGAIN! Yes, that's right, this has happened to me 3 times!

This was the first of 3 times that our window fell down. We were going to dinner, pulled into the parking lot and heard a loud "Pop". The driver's window started to slowly roll down. When I went to try and roll it up it made an awful clicking sound. It took two days to repair and the dealership in Houston had not had any other complaints.

This must be a fleet problem as it is reported by so many on this web site.

Ford should have to do a recall on this issue!!!

I have a 2004 Ford F150 Fx4 - rear passenger window fell down into the door - had it fixed at the dealer for $400. Two weeks later, front passenger window did the same thing. Apparently it's the window regulator again. Called Ford - the lovely woman said "Well, you had the opportunity to buy an extended warranty" %$^$##@% No recall is intended - she said we could go to the dealer and have the window fixed and then try to submit the cost - but she wasn't sure exactly where to send the papers - "check with the dealer" - whatever!!! We're trading for a Dodge Ram - Ford's are just too much trouble!!

I have had 9 fords, my last f150 before this one was a 99 lariat, 202,000 miles and then someone slammed into her, totaled it......still ran though....this truck has 102k on it and the damn passenger front window just fell down when I backed out of the driveway. This is caused by some crappy design, and cables clips made of plastic.....from what I can tell. I have a parts hookup and can get this probably fairly cheap...but I have not bought one yet, it is sunday and they are closed THis sucks. Good thing I have a bike to ride.....I have the window held up with a pair of vice grips....for now..

In Early August the Driver's side front window regulator failed. Had fixed for $387.00 at Plaza Ford in Bel Air, MD. Out of warranty and they made no mention it was a rampant problem. Two weeks later both rear window regulators failed SIMULTANEOUSLY. Yep you guessed it, almost $800.00 to repair. Plaza Ford said they have not heard of any issues with the window regulators and that it was "unusual".

Just adding my complaint to the list. My wife and I were about an hour into a 7.5 hour road trip from Vegas, when we heard this bang, which we thought, something hit the door from the outside. Well we had never seen anything, and checking the mirror, I couldn't see any damage, so we decided to pull off the road to check it out. I got out, and again, didn't see any damage, so we decided to get lunch and fill up. Just as I was getting back onto the highway, the window just fell down into the door. We called information and got the phone number to a dealer in Barstow, CA, he was familiar with the problem and said he could fix it, and quoted a price of three something, but the big thing was, he said it would take a couple of hours to do, so like fools, we decided 2 hours would get us back too late, so we decided to pushed on. Just a note to everyone, if you find yourself in this situation, take the couple hours, write a nice long letter to Ford or something, don't drive 6 hours in 100+ degree heat, it's not worth the couple hours of sleep you'll loose, you can sleep at work the next day. I hope Ford is big enough to do the right thing and fix this problem, but until then, I guess I'll be taking my truck to the local dealership today, to get it fixed. I only wish I could hear out of my left ear.

The window pulley design is so horrible on the Ford F-150. It explains why so many people are buying Toyota's and Nissan's instead of Ford's and Chevy's. If our American designers cant get the freakin window regulators right it doesn't say much for the rest of the vehicle. This is my second window failure in less than 2 month and I am ready to sell and buy an Import. I just recently sold my 2001 Ford F-350 because the electrical system had a reoccurring problem that the Ford dealer couldn't fix. I was a die-hard Ford Guy but they just continue to let me down along with so many others.

I had rolled my window down after coming home from work at 4am so that i could fold in the mirror to be able to park under our carport. When i tried to roll it back up i heard a loud bang and then the window was suddenly gone. It had fallen inside the door. Of course it had to happen at 4am Sunday morning on a holiday weekend and i don't know how to fix it and i cannot take it to Ford to have it fixed until Tuesday. I can't wait to see how bad they try to screw me over on the cost of this one. After reading all of the other complaints with the same problem i do not feel very good about this situation at all.

well here we go! Back in June of this year my drivers side power window decided to fall down into the door and because of Fords expert engineers I had to purchase the whole inside assy to fix the power window. Well August 29 the drivers side decided to do the very same thing. So I guess that will be another $330.00 to fix. I am really upset with Ford. I was a loyal Ford truck fan also. I have purchase the last 5 trucks from Ford but if they don't take care of this problem I am switching to Toyota. One other little thing, the hodd around the head light is rusting though also. If you have one of these truck be prepared to fix the windows every now and then. This was Motor trends truck of the year too. Blaw!!!!!!

I called Ford about the driver's window dropping and reminded them that I had purchased 3 new Ford/Mercury vehicles in the past 5 years. I also told them I was in the market for a new 2009 F-150 and wasn't happy about wanting to be charged $275+ for the repair to my 2004. Ford called the dealership and made arrangements to have the repair done at a cost of $75 total to me. Ford saved me $200 on the repair which made me quite happy but I'm concerned what will happen when the next window breaks.

When I took it to a Window Repair Shop, they said the cable probably broke and the ENTIRE DOOR MECHANISM would have to be replaced! THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO SAY THE LEAST!!!

With all this I'm hearing about multiple windows just "sliding down", it actually makes me feel a little grateful that I'm just on my first window. Maybe by the time I'm on my 2nd or 3rd, Ford will man up and do something about it or maybe they'll just go bankrupt and let Toyota and Honda take over the whole planet. I look like an idiot rolling down the street with my driver side window down not to mention the big inconvenience. I can put up with a leak that comes through my roof area where by back window was not sealed correctly and still not act like a big baby but this takes the cake. I'm real disappointed with Ford right now especially when I see my black plastic exterior pieces on my Sport Side have almost faded to white (must be global warming huh?). I've always enjoyed Ford but in this case - FORD - Furious Over Ridiculous Design - Sums it up for me! I've boycotted McDonald's, Tyson chicken, and Ford's next if they don't watch it.

Driver's door window dropped down when truck was being parked at work. Window wasn't even being used on drive to work. Read the first 10 of the 109 complaints logged on about SAME problem. Called Bartow Ford and they said to save receipts for repairs...IN CASE there is ever a recall on it. So, I googled any CLASS ACTION ATTORNEYS to see if anyone can get a recall started or a class action suit started. Found one in Ft Myers & left email info, waiting to hear back from them. They are: Associates and Bruce Scheiner, if anyone is interested in emailing them too (the more the merrier). I also included www.carcomplaints.com in my email, so they can see for themselves how many people are having issues...and told them that so far the 2004's have 109 complaints (at this time). SOME attorney somewhere should jump on the chance to go after a major car company. We DO love our Fords but not the service. Let's see what we can shake up other owners!! This problem is rough. We have the window propped up with a piece of PVC pipe and 2 towels. Can't figure out how to fix ourselves. Took 2 people to get the window back up from inside the door. We need to get this problem brought out into the consumer world, not just the truck owners!!!
