Driver's side handle broke after owning the vehicle for 2 months. Passenger side handle hardly used, guess that's why it hasn't broken yet.

Blazer LS 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 98,000 miles

The recline handle on the passenger side snapped off and the geared portion of the metal post was inside the handle leaving only the broken post exposed... I have heard of a replacement part for this situation but wonder if you need the geared portion to fix the problem?...

I definitely hear you #1!!! My wife was trying to recline and the Passenger seats handle just popped right off also!!!! Thank goodness it was in the upright position and not the drivers seat!!

I definitely think that this vehicle is a piece of junk!!! I will definitely be going Toyota Highlander next time around. I will file separate complaints but here is a summary of my issues!!!

-Seat recliner lever breaking off
-Left front wheel bearings going bad, also needing a new Idler Arm because of this. Over $1,000 to repair.
-Idler Arm now again bad, but it is just after 16k miles, so not covered by the repair warranty anymore.. will cost $575 to fix
-Oil cooler lines, Have been fixed 2x already and are bad again. $400 to fix. Been told by Midas and other independent shops this is a big problem on the blazer!!!
-Heater quit working. Had coolant changed and backflushed and now heater works again. Was told if happens again need a new heater core... at $1500.00

What a headache.. I have already begun shopping for a new car (honda civic or accord) and my next truck will be a Toyota Highlander or so (depending if what truck or suv). I used to be Hard core Chevy, but NO MORE.

I am glad to have found this site. I share in sooo many of the same complaints. My gas gauge is all over the place - and I think it is worse as the tank actually gets low. Like everyone else here has said, you have to use the trip meter to gauge where you might be. I will not take this car farther than 50 miles from home. Problems in other areas too: both my seat handles have broken off - like paper - looks like they used aluminum foil instead of steel. Will comment in other area - but my drivers side wheel almost fell completely off - wheel hub bearing replacement at over $700 in -30 degree temps last winter coming back from Chicago. They tried to tell me I must have hit a pot hole... thinking now was a line of BS. I'm on here today because my driver side door is screwed up again. First time the pin broke and the dang thing almost fell off. Now, the latch that closes won't unlatch - preventing the door from shutting. Driving to get that fixed holding onto my car door (wearing seatbelts - hope they don't break!). Let's see what else, the hood sticks constantly, the heater completely quit working this winter - I did have the fluids replaced and now the air is hot again, but the fans barely pump out any heat.

WTF!!! They can build a low maintenance engine like the 4.3L but can't make a damn handle? Mine broke twice before I googled it and found an after market replacement that had a metal shaft instead of the plastic! Here's the link:

You have to unplug the switch under the seat or the seat moves you forward and backwards while driving. By doing this the seat will not move and the heated seats are worthless too.

Blazer LS 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

My blazer now has 72000 miles but the seat recliner levels broke when it was just 42000 miles and of course it was by then out of warranty. The dealership told me that the entire bottom end of the seat (The base) has to be replaced. The cost $900. So ever since then I have lived without a reclining option on BOTH the driver and passanger chairs. Ever since I bought this blazer I've had nothing but problems with it. The Oil cooling line near the radiator busted due to the fact that it was not routed properly and the hose rubbed against the metal until it broke. This happened at 52000 miles and the dealer did not covered it under the warranty (It was out) even though it was Chevrolet's fault to begin with. Now I have the problem with the heater core being clogged up and the entire dash has to be removed and the dealer wants $1100 to replace it because it is out of warranty. I just found our also that the other cooling line going to the oil filter adapter is also leaking oil and needs to be replaced. The lower ball joints are also defective and need replacement. GENERAL MOTORS IF YOU WANT US TO BUY AMERICAN YOU BETTER START MAKING CARS LIKE THE JAPONESE OR PERHAPS LIKE MY OLD CAPRICE CLASSIC SW WHICH WAS VERY RELIABLE. THIS BLAZER HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS AND I WILL SELL IT AND BUY A NISSAN SUV. I AM SICK OF ALL THE PROBLEMS AND HOW EXPENSIVE THE REPAIRS ARE.
